Story​​

Anastasia Gershman is a narrator, talk artist, and synesthete, telling stories in living color since 1971. She delights in giving voice to feral women making strong choices.​​

​

Anastasia started out in the Haight-Ashbury as a hippie love child and learned the power of the human voice and punk rock in Berkeley, California, in the 1970s and '80s. 

​

She trained formally in narration, acting, voice, and production. She made art and short films in the Bay Area and earned her degree in communication from UCLA while helming a college radio show about movie music in narrative filmmaking. Over time she also became a doula, reading coach for children, translator, historical film curator, fighter, and stepmom. She is fluent in English and French. 

​

Literary fiction, romance, and outrageous non-fiction are genres that get her brainstorming about how she can connect with the author’s cadence in the most authentic and truthful way. She serves the story in an intimate, relatable voice with notes of aloe vera, chai tea and hookah.

She is a proud member of of the Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Chinese diasporas of the West Indies, with Quebecoise and Scot-Irish mixed in for flavor. Anastasia brings an affinity for and special interest in stories of othered peoples, subcultures, and belief systems. Unique stories have unique sounds. There is always a way to say it, tell it, and make it.

When she's not reading, listening to, or recording an audiobook or drama, she can be found at home with her husband listening to Blondie records with their menagerie of pets and young people around the house. She spends her extra time generating AI storyboards, lifting heavy, boxing and listening to people around her, imagining what their story might be. ​​​
